By going deeper into iPhoneograhy and getting inspired by seeing work of Richard Koci, i decided to focus more of telling story through my iphoneography lens, more than before..

Before I continue this topic , I would like to share that for the first time ever, I have participated with my iPhoneography Art of Tower image at depixtions exibition in orlando, Florida which is already sold out and the money goes to New Hope for Kids charity, which I’m proud of participation and the activity happen around this image. I would like to thank depixtions folks for making this happen. This image itself got great impression on people over my flickr stream too. Check it out in below.

I have been totaly inspired by worlds most creative journalist which his story and his style is definitely inspiring to lot of us. I have started first with closer observation on his style and understanding the process of touching the images toward the feel and emotions he want to achieve. He is undoubted greatest contemporary journalist living currently with all his teaching and instructing skills made him a successful award winner multimedia journalist ever.
After all I think that sharing just an image sometime doesn’t tell the story. Visual story telling through iPhoneography was next step in my iPhoneography journey.

Blurb mobile is one of my favorite apps. The Apps help you to put your images, videos, sounds and text along to make story richer. It feature sharing options as well as embedding the story into your tumblr, facebook and twitter network. one of my shortlisted feature for this apps would be embeding code for wordpess or either web developing tools.

After struggling bit with previous design and limitation additionally in admin side, i have decided to come with better look and space to showcase more of day to day activity related to my main field which is Film Making additional to my passion in iPhoneorgaphy which is new hope by creating art on the go, every where, from taking simple snaps to tell story and journalling and more.

Since iPhone 4s released, thinking of iPhone as only digital camera in your pocket increasing day by day worldwide, and to me since iPhone 3GS, iPhone become the only camera with me at most events.. Need to mention this my latest trip to london last week was first ever trip with only iPhone and iPad in bag, no DSLR, no Macbook Air!

So what is iPhoneography all about?

As most of people describe, iPhoneography is process of shoot, edit and sharing which only  possible with smart phones and specially iPhone for the most because of fun, easy editing apps which help to create wonderful art out of your mobile phone photography.

iPhoneography on the way of getting more serious when lots of well known photographer started using iPhone in their projects, commercially as well as for fun. iPhoneography exhibition recently happened worldwide in New York, London and other major towns which gives huge appearance to iphoneographers worldwide to exhibit their art to visitors. There is couple of online virtual exhibition as i believe is another platform for artist to showcase their work online from wherever they live.

Apps having major part of iphoneography, since they help to make your photos enhanced, edited almost like photoshop ( combination of more Apps) and integrity with social platform gives easy access to share with friends, well known apps called instagram which i have already spoke about it over this post.

Another fun iPhoneography i had recently 3 weeks ago was a journey to Sheikh Zayed Mosque, i think i have got terrific images. i have submitted to sheikh zayed mosque competition they had in january but unfortunately they did not accept my images due to mobile images. they might not be in same mega pixel of DSLRs but they are good enough for any type of publication, exhibition as we can see worldwide they do. I wish our friends in UAE will give a chance to Mobile photographers which they are wonderful works out to be seen.

Other type of art creation in iPhoneography is collates. there is very interesting work by other iphoneographers on flickr base groups you may search for iPhoneography in flickr. Two major site i do read every day is iPhoneographey.com

Here apple released the latest update of FCPx in promised time frame.

Since release of Final Cut Pro x, there was huge disappointment for lot of professionals for lack of some main tools they always needed . However since you have realized Apple with release of Final Cut Pro x dramatically changed the way we edit and i believe by their research they decided to release the most of function time by time with new updates like what we see with every update there is some new and some exciting but with new approach.

I haven’t update yet my FCPx but i can share with you some interesting article s and change log with apple release by the day.

Finally i got my iPhone 4s and my first shoot out was Dubai Creek – Deira Side with my friend photographer Leo James.

Before speaking about Hipstamtic and magic of the look which possible to achieve on iPhone, let mw talk about some iPhone 4s videography and photography test I’m doing this days, which i believe again iPhone proving itself as amazing camera to own with you, all the time, every where.

I like to express my interests on Hipstamatic apps part of iPhonegraphy journey, I have recently joined Hipstamatic Ambassador team in UAE. It was great little journey after while to this old area, where is heart of people transportation between deira and bur Dubai through creek.

It’s full of memory for every one who live in Dubai for long time and even tourists who get to see the oldest location of town. You see different angels of city, people, birds , boats and building  ..

We met at deira side and started walking, talking and interestingly shooting with iPhone all over the creek side.

At this trip i have only used hipstamatic apps as great iPhonegraphy tool all the time. The result were amazing. you can click on above images and see in high resolution. i can tell you hipstamatic relive my old memories with same tone, same look.

Later we took Abraa ( traditional boat which transfer people from and other side of creek). Seating along other people, breathing the air around , watching the birds and their love and excitement of seeing peoples around,  all and all gives plenty of subjects to shoot out. See some more images :

Finally after 10 months of making telePhoni, Now It’s live to watch over her, uaefilm.ae and iPhone Film Festival.

I like to share some thought on this short film which could be interesting to you as well.

After years of working with filmmakers, i was always looking for mystery story and enough budget to make a film with proper set and casts. That ideology make me long to do a real short film and participate along other friend in film festivals locally which is now more than 4 festivals happening per a year regionally!

Therefore when my friend Ahmed gave me the story line, i though and re though how to make it mystery, fun and as my always interest , make something different!

Korean famous Director Chan-Wook was in process of making feature film with iPhone which at that time was truly inspiration and big confidence that i should go with iPhone this time, no other camera. That doesn’t mean i was out of other equipment since I’m almost since 2 years using Canon HDSLR’s and i could proceed my film by them.However iPhone was the choice!

All planing happened in very short time, since i was looking for Asian female  looking actor, that was difficult part of the project. It was difficult to find someone by telling him that i want to shoot story of house maid in a relationship!

At this part of world since there is no film industry, the idea doesn’t translate well to people and therefor it took me week after putting ads and talking and convincing people to act in this project.

But thank to Aimee Garcia my female actor she almost act as i wanted. Even other male actors which all of them first time standing opposite camera they all just done great job.

We had shoot all scene in one Friday morning as early az 8am up to 11am. While Friday is weekend over here, was the only time i can find my self and others available to shoot.Good to mention that The location of filming was my parents house.

Let me tell you a nice moment of that day when in one of the scene swere both actor and actress were getting closer my dad came out of his room and suddenly he stop by to watch whats going on, he did not comment anything at that time but  I’m sure it was uncomfortable scene happening at his home!

Later within week time almost i edited the film, shared with writer which he is my friend Ahmed Zain. We both like it and final edit came out almost like what we imagined at beginning . However it was difficult to convince him that iPhone can be interesting device for this project but he finally even chose the name of film which i believe all related.

At the end we decided to submit it for Gulf Film Festival which was about to happen in next 2 months. Later, film was accepted as part of official film competition. it was first appearance of film along other films among Gulf Countries.

The next appearance was in Abu Dhabi Film Festival in Oct 2011. Part of Emirates Film Competition which happen while i was look around at my favorite apple store in Reston, Virginia. just a few days before my little son Sami born! At that time i received couple of tweets and messages from friends that my short film got third award of short film narration at Festival.

It was surprise for me and i believe it was overall great experience and achievement for such very low budget film. where you not limiting yourself to any device while you can make your audience for your film without having huge budget but story to tell.

I would like to thank everyone who helped, supported this project, From my parents to my wife as always big supporter to me. All friends who support film making in middle east and special thanks to Masoud Amralah for being big supporter to UAE Films and others like the vimeo users with their inspiration work all the time. finally iPhone Film Festival  which i believe they are the one who making iPhone film sound mores serious than before.

I had always wanted to see how Ras Al Khor wildlife sanctuary is look like, my last try was a year ago exactly but no luck due to permissioning issue as usual.

This year we understood that we do not need of permission since this video is just for public release and for you to see how dubai, or part of dubai got such wild birds living near by and enjoying a natural environment which has been carefully controlled by Dubai Muncipality .

Me and my friend artist made early morning short trip to this location. we expedient all camera device we had to capture photos and video. my iPhone 4s gave me a nice hipstaatic images which you will see them over here too.

The video made in very short time since there was no much footage to edit due to limitation of space they allow visitor to hang out over there or even seat. unfrotantely that wasn’t helpful and weather were foggy too. But i think still the video is watchable. The music is done by my bro Mortadha. Special thanks to him, i liked the music very much and i hope its fit the video.

I haven’t blogged sometime, its been extremely busy time since last blog in Nov.

I’m back in town sometime now, get back to work after 2months with some pending projects like making iOS apps of uaefilm.ae and my other playpasue project which i will go in deep about it later, only after apps get ready for submission.

I will start from recent updates, Dubai Fim festival is on, a big celebration for filmmakers in region and worldwide. This year as all you know huge opening with mission impossible and tom cruise. Its major achivment for Dubai film festival in 8th edition of it as well as dubai, such wonderful destination for every project. I was invited on red carper as well as watching MI4. I hope you all can make to watch all the best films currently screening only at dubai film festival. I have a light participation in short film Basirah directed jointly by Ahmed Zain and Naser Al Yaqoobi.  I had major color correction . Fo the first time my brother Mortadha composed Music for this documentary which is very much aligned with the story and his hero.I hope this can make him to think more series on composing music for film!

Last week was UAE National day, we have announced uaefilm.ae first competition for the first time seeking participant to create short film or capture the activities around them for uae national day. we got The National newspaper covered. Thanks to Colin Simpson. We hope to come with competition all of time for you all who interested and ambition to show us your film.

Last one but not least, its about Sami .. It’s name of my baby son which is present from god now almost more than 40 days old! its most valuable thing i ever had.
He is changing our life day by day with adding new strengths to me such as feeding, burping and changing diapers!

It’s all exciting time, almost end of the year.. Beautiful weather in dubai and it’s best time for all of my friends around the world to plan visit and enjoy everything over here! As Tom Cruise said you can do water park then snow boarding all in one day, Only in Dubai.

If you are editor or Final Cut user, there is no way you haven’t hear name of Larry Jordan! Yes, finally i was able to meet him after 5 years hearing him only!

Thankfully i have arranged this time to attend Larry Jordan‘s one day workshop in Washington D.C . In depth of the new release of Final Cut Pro  10 or FCPx  was the title of workshop which apple by this release totally changed the way we all used to edit.

I know Larry since 2006 when i start to learn more of FCP 5 and then 6 and all way up to today. He is one of reasons i always loved editing with FCP. He carry a phenomenal skills in presenting FCP and describing how to do stuff in FCP. His Books, Webinars and Workshops always attract me specially his blog which he do send the monthly update which includes everyone’s question and troubleshooting into one newsletter. I think most of us we do own to Larry and as he say always in his tutorials he is there to make sure we are on business!
